Nigeria’s gas output rises to 7.63bn standard cubic feet per day

The Presidency says Nigeria’s gross gas production rose to 7.63 billion standard cubic feet per day from about 6.83 billion in 2023.

Highlights

• Special Adviser to the President on Oil and Gas, Olu Verheijen, gave the update at the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce Energy Day 2026 in Lagos.
• She said Nigeria’s proven gas reserves now stand at more than 215 trillion cubic feet.
• Verheijen said the increase followed presidential directives aimed at improving conditions for deep-water, non-associated gas and midstream infrastructure.
• She said more than $4 billion in international oil company divestments were redirected toward deep-water and integrated gas projects.
• She also said contracting times have fallen from about 36 months to around 14 months.
